2020 Property Taxes

2020 Summer tax bills have been mailed out.   If you haven't received one, you should in the next day or so. If you have not received one by the end of July, please contact the Treasurer's Office.

Taxes are due by September 14, 2020.  Due to COVID-19, payments are strongly encouraged to be mailed, placed in our drop box on the front of the building or paid at Independent Bank in Clio.  If you require a receipt, please write "receipt" on the bottom of your tax statement and send that in with your payment.

We ask that residents continue to use alternate methods of communicating and transacting business with the Treasurer's office whenever possible to limit person-to-person contact due to COVID-19.  When needing to contact the Treasurer's office, please just ask for the Treasurer's office and we will get back with you.

NO CASH is accepted for tax payments at the Township Hall.  Only at Independent Bank in Clio.

From The Assessor:

In order to comply with the Michigan State Tax Commission recommendations, Thetford Township Assessing Department will be reviewing 20% of parcels located within Thetford Township each year.   Starting April 1st, the Assessor, Marie Canterbury, will be conducting physical inspections of properties in the Township.  This includes measuring the exterior of the house and other structures on the property, taking pictures and interviewing owners to obtain interior characteristics of the structures.  At no time will they request to enter your house or any buildings on your property.  They will be displaying Thetford Township ID badges, which has their name on them.  You may also request to view their Michigan Driver's License to aid in identifying them.  Please direct any questions or concerns to the Thetford Township offices.
